Bormes-les-Mimosas is a picturesque, provencal medieval village. Famous for its flowers and narrow old streets. A 12th century village located on a hill facing the Mediterranean sea, Bormes provides a beautiful example of medieval architecture with its arches, ramparts and castle ruins. Many artists and craftpersons have adopted the village for their summer shops. In the evening, tourists and Bormeans stroll through the narrow, winding streets, sit at outdoor cafes or play “boules” and converse on the large public square located near the townhall. Bormes is a 15 minute drive from Le Lavandou, 40 minute drive from Hyeres and 2 hours from Nice by highway. The most beautiful and least crowded beaches are Cabasson, L’Estagnol and Le Pellegrin which are private beaches meaning that one has to pay for parking to get in – about $10 per automobile, but are well worth the price. Public beaches are found along the entire coast.
